Information on the newsletter and consent

We are providing you with the following information to explain the content of our newsletter as well as the registration, dispatch and statistical evaluation processes and your right of objection. By registering for a CASS Industries Newsletter, you agree with the described processes and to the receipt of CASS Industries emails.

Content of our emails (newsletter)

We only send emails and other electronic notifications with advertising material (referred to hereinafter as the “newsletter”) with the consent of the recipients or legal permission. If specific content of the newsletter is altered during the registration process, this content is essential for the consent of the users. Our emails contain information on updates to current standards, test methods & technologies. This content is intended to help you ensure your products & company are compliant to all relevant Standards & Directives. From time to time we may also include promotional content.

Double opt-in and recording process

Registration for our newsletter is completed as part of a double opt-in process. This means you will receive an email after registering in which you will be asked to confirm your registration. This confirmation is required so that nobody can register with email addresses that do not belong to them.

The newsletter registrations are recorded in order to be able to verify the registration process in accordance with legal requirements. This includes storing the time of registration and confirmation and the IP address. The changes to your data that is held by our servers are also recorded.

Personal Details

You only need to provide your email address to register for the newsletter. If you also provide us with your name, this enables us to personalise our email. However, it is not strictly necessary to provide the first names to register for our newsletter.

Statistical survey and analyses

Our emails contain a “web beacon”, i.e. a pixel-size file that is retrieved from our server when opening emails. This initially involves technical information being retrieved such as information on the browser and your system as well as your IP address and the time of retrieval. This information is used to make technical improvements to services based on technical data or the target groups and their reading behaviour based on their retrieval locations (that can be determined with the IP address) or access times.

The statistical surveys also involve determining whether the newsletters are opened, when they are opened and which links are clicked on. This information may be assigned to individual newsletter recipients for technical reasons but it is not our intention to monitor individual users. The evaluations instead help us to recognise the reading habits of our users and to adapt our content to them or to send different content based on our users’ interests.

Online access and data management

There are instances where we lead newsletter recipients to the Newsletter web pages, e.g. our newsletters contain a link which newsletter recipients can use to access the newsletters online (e.g. if there are issues with displaying the newsletter in the email programme). Newsletter recipients may also correct data such as their email address retrospectively.

Termination/Revocation

You may opt-out of receiving our newsletter at any time, i.e. withdraw your consent. This means you also no longer consent to the distribution of this newsletter via our servers and the statistical analyses.

You can find a link to unsubscribe to the newsletter at the end of each CASS Industries email.

General Data Protection Regulation legal bases

According to the guidelines of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) valid from 25 May 2018, we hereby inform you that you have consented to your email addresses being sent based on Art. 6 Para.1 lit. a, 7 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and § 7 Para. 2(3) or Para. 3 of the Unfair Competition Act (UC). The email service provider is internal to CASS Industries Limited, the statistical surveys and analyses are performed and the registration procedure is recorded based on our legitimate interests pursuant to Art. 6 Para.1 lit. f of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Our interests focus on the use of a user-friendly and secure newsletter system that serves our business interests and meets user expectations.

We also wish to point out that you can object to the future processing of your personal data at all times in accordance with the legal regulations pursuant to Art. 21 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Specifically, the objection can be made against processing for direct marketing purposes.
